Uniforms

Uniforms at North Ryde Public School are purchased through an online shop proudly run by a team of P&C volunteers.

How it works

The shop operates online via the My School Connect app. You can place orders anytime during the week, and they’ll be packed and delivered to your child’s classroom, usually on Friday mornings.

Second-hand uniforms

Have uniforms your child has outgrown? You’re welcome to donate second-hand uniforms by dropping them off at the school office. These items are then available for families to purchase at a reduced price during our special second-hand uniform sale days or by contacting the P&C Uniform Coordinator directly.

Try-on sessions

As we operate an online store, please make an appointment for any sizing assistance by emailing the Uniform P&C Coordinator. For students starting Kindergarten, special uniform fitting sessions are available during the Kindy Orientation Days, typically held in October each year.

How to help

If you can spare an hour on Friday mornings to help pack uniform sales, sign up on the My School Connect App, Volunteer or visit myschoolvolunteer.com.au

Canteen

The canteen is run by members of our P&C in partnership with Sweet Temptations Patisserie, and is currently open every Friday.

How it works

  • All canteen orders are placed online via the FlexiSchools app. You'll find a variety of fresh and tasty food options your child will love.

  • Be sure to let your child know what you’ve ordered for them so they know what to expect at lunchtime.

  • After placing your order, always check the “Order History” tab in the FlexiSchools app to confirm it’s been successfully placed for the correct date. Orders that aren’t confirmed or are set for the wrong day won’t be delivered as expected.

Cancelling orders

If your child will be away:

  • Cancel before 8am on Friday for a refund via the FlexiSchools app or call Bradley at Sweet Temptations Patisserie on (02) 9428 1220 before 8am.

  • Missed the cut-off? Contact the School Office to arrange for the lunch to be picked up by a parent, given to a sibling, or discarded.

How to help

If you can spare an hour on a Friday to assist with canteen duties, we’d love your help!  Sign up via MySchoolConnect/Volunteer or visit myschoolvolunteer.com.au

Ethics

In New South Wales public schools, a timeslot is set aside each week for teaching ethics at the same time as scripture. Ethics classes are impartially facilitated by our trained volunteers, using lesson materials approved by the Department of Education.

In the lessons, children listen to a range of stories and scenarios pitched at their age level and then share ideas on what they think they ought to do in these situations. The focus is on students developing the skill to identify ethical issues and to think critically in developing their own reasoned opinions, as they engage in respectful discussion with the other children.

Volunteer Ethics Teachers Needed

We are seeking volunteers to teach Ethics classes. Currently, more families are choosing Ethics than we have volunteers available, resulting in a waitlist for classes. If you can spare just half an hour on Thursday mornings, or know a friend or grandparent who might be interested, we’d love to hear from you.

For more information on how you can help, please contact our P&C Ethics Volunteer Coordinator.

School Bands

The P&C coordinates the school band program and facilitates the hire of P&C-owned instruments for band students.

North Ryde Public School’s Band Program consists of three bands and includes opportunities such as an annual band workshop and performances at local events, including the Ryde East Festival.

Joining the band

From year 3, NRPS students will have the opportunity to join the school band. You will receive communications from the school regarding this opportunity.

Want to get involved in supporting the band?

We’re on the lookout for a 2026 P&C Band Coordinator! If you’re organised, enthusiastic, and keen to support our school’s music program, we’d love to hear from you. Interested? Contact the P&C President today.

Our School Environment

Caring for Our School Ground

At North Ryde Public School, we believe that caring for our school environment is a shared responsibility. The P&C Association proudly supports projects that help create a safe, welcoming, and sustainable space for our children to learn and grow.

What We Support

  • Grounds Maintenance & Beautification - We assist with gardening, landscaping, and general improvements to ensure the school grounds are safe and enjoyable for students and staff.

  • Sustainability Initiatives- We support programs that encourage recycling, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental awareness within the school community.

  • Facilities Support -  through fundraising and community involvement, we contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of school facilities and outdoor areas.

  • Caring for Country-  We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and support respectful and educational use of our outdoor spaces, including native gardens and cultural signage where possible.

How You Can Help

Our work is made possible through the generous help of volunteers. Whether it's joining a working bee, donating plants, or sharing ideas for sustainability projects, every bit counts. Together, we can nurture a vibrant and environmentally conscious school community.

Scholastic Book Club

Did you know that the P&C provides all North Ryde Public School students access to the Scholastic Book Club? And every order placed helps our school!

For every purchase made, 15% of the order value is given back to the school as Scholastic Rewards, which are used to buy valuable educational and library resources.

How it works

Book Club brochures are sent home in your child’s bag. Orders can be placed easily via the LOOP site Just create an account to get started.

Thanks to your support, the Book Club raises hundreds of dollars each year for our library. Keep an eye out for the latest issue—another great chance to grow your home library and support our school at the same time!

Class Parents

Class Parents play an important role in creating connection and communication within each class. A friendly link between families, class teachers, and the P&C. Whether welcoming new parents, sharing school and P&C updates, or helping coordinate small events and teacher appreciation messages—your contribution helps build a positive and supportive school environment.

Class Parents are supported throughout the year by our P&C Public Relations contact who will help you stay informed and connected.

What Does a Class Parent Do?

You don’t need to take on everything—just bring your warmth, presence, and a willingness to help when you can.

  • Welcome new families - Help new parents feel included and connected.

  • Share class and P&C updates - Use email or WhatsApp to pass on key messages and event info.

  • Coordinate casual class catch-ups - Park playdates, coffee mornings, or a simple end-of-term picnic are perfect.

  • Support thank-you efforts - Coordinate class contributions to teacher appreciation cards or gifts (optional).

  • Assist with P&C activities - Help spread the word or gather volunteers when needed.

  • Be a bridge - Offer a friendly point of contact between families, teachers, and the P&C.
